DAY 1, SUNDAY
Arrive in Nosy Be from Johannesburg by AIRLINK, you will be met on arrival by Miavana host and escorted to the helicopter for your 1 hour transfer to Nosy Ankao – this might be a shared transfer, max 4 passages.On arrival into the Island, you will be picked up in your own electric vehicle and transferred to the main area for a quick introduction to the island and activities available at Miavana before being driven to your villa to relax and settle into your new surroundings.
DAY 2, MONDAY
Today, became familiar with your surroundings and take your bicycle for a ride around the island. We have pathway you can use to explore the different beaches and coves of Nosy Ankao at your own pace. On your return, plunge into the ocean directly in front of your villa using some of the snorkeling gear in your room to explore the underwater gardens.This afternoon take the helicopter (5 minutes) or a small boat (30 minutes to the nearest landing point) to the Madagascar mainland in search of lemurs. The area you will be exploring is called the Loky Manambato Protected Area, managed by our local NGO partner, Fanamby. Your guide will show you a few different types of Lemurs in this area including the critically endangered and endemic golden-crowned Sifaka; this is on the rare spot in Madagascar where you can see them. The forest also contains butterflies, chameleons and a variety of plants and birds.
DAY 3, TUESDAY
Today you may be interested in heading out to explore one of her reefs or a nearby wreck in the archipelago. You can snorkel or for those of you with a PAID certified dive license, scuba dive. If you’re interested in learning to dive, our expert instruction can assist.
DAY 4, WEDNESDAY
Depending on the tides, today could be your perfect day to ply your craft (if you’re already a pro) or learn of fly fish off the sandy beaches of Nosy Ankao. One of our guides would be happy to assist you if you’re learning or take you to the prime location both off the main island (Nosy Ankao) or take a short 10 minute boat ride and explore the significant bounty of marine file around Nosy Manamphao.If you’re interested in exploring further afield, jump on a boat with some poppers and search for one of the many Giant Travelley which hunt in our waters. It’s not uncommon to catch GTs upwards of 35 kgs (80 pounds) only a hundred meters offshore.
DAY 5, THURSDAY
If you’re feeling adventurous and the time of the year is right, how about learning to kite surf? Our expert guides tell us it’s faster to learn to kitesurf than windsurf and within 9 hours of beginner lessons (over the course of a week) your could be up and moving. We have group lessons available on the Activities Manager’s advice (best winds, conditions etc) or can offer private lessons if you wish.
For those of you who want other distractions, but who want to remain on the water, we also have kayaks; stand up paddle boards and small boats available for use.
If you’re feeling in need of rejuvenation, we also have on onsite spa with a range of treatments using handmade products and offer yoga sessions by trained professionals.
DAY 6 - 7, FRIDAY - SATURDAY
Day at leisure.
DAY 8, SUNDAY
You will rise early this morning to catch the helicopter back to Nosy be. On arrival you will be assisted to your onward connecting flight to Johannesburg.
